Ladylike in Capri

September 20, 2016

It really is difficult to describe Capri.  You simply must live it! To say it’s glamorous is a bit of a stretch and to say that it lacks character couldn’t be further from the truth.  The upper crust flocks to the island and it’s no secret why they do.  As we pulled up to the dock, I must admit that I wasn’t as impressed with it as I was with Positano.  That all changed when we took the ride to the top, which is where the town sits.  That’s where I saw the breathtaking views of Capri’s bluest waters.  High end boutiques next to souvenir shops line the white washed buildings and cobblestone streets.  You definitely don’t need to be gussied up to hang out in Capri, and I think that’s what makes it so “Mediterranean Cool.” A simple striped top with white linen pants or a striped dress (like the one I have on) is perfect.  Be sure to pack a coverup + bikini for a boat ride:-) I mean, this was Jackie O’s vacation spot..and I can totally understand why!  Fun Fact: I was scrolling through old photos from Capri and I stumbled across the photo below of Jackie O going barefoot down a cobblestone street.  I knew the moment I saw it that I actually took a picture in that same spot!  Not gonna whole night was made when I discovered this.

We took the tram down to the port, hopped in our boat and took a tour around Capri.  Our skipper, Guiseppe, was the sweetest and truly gave us an amazing view of the island.  We got to experience the “Green Grotto,” which isn’t as well known as the famous Grotta Azzura (Blue Grotto) but equally as beautiful in my opinion. (photos above)  He took the boat THROUGH the Faraglioni rock!  When I mentioned before that driving in Italy is complete chaos, that also includes boats. They were beeping at each other in the water too!  I hope you get a taste of how fabulous this island is.  The pictures do not do any of it justice:-)  Capri is an island of true beauty and it must be experienced.

Tips to Look Chic

  • Striped anything (top, dress)
  • Sunglasses
  • Head Scarf (looks classic + keeps your hair in place)
  • Espadrilles or Sandals
  • Signature Scent (Everyone smells amazing in Italy)

I hope you enjoyed my travel diary from Italy!  Ciao!
