Just like that we hopped on a train from Rome to Naples to continue on our incredible Italian vacation! Stop by stop we rode through Naples, Pompeii an eventually got off at Sant’agnello. It was a quick drive to our hotel in Sorrento, Hotel Corallo. The views from the hotel were gorgeous! (shown above). Hotel Corallo teetered on a rocky cliff just like the others surrounding it, but it didn’t matter because it was so beautiful. The hotel staff was so friendly and knowledgeable, so I highly recommend it if you plan on taking an Italian vacation anytime soon. Sorrento is a quaint town that is a great jumping point if you plan to do any other traveling around the Amalfi or Capri. It’s also home to massive lemon groves which in turn help in making their world famous Limoncello:-) I’m not even kidding when I say that these lemons were like 3 of our “American” lemons combined! We stayed in Sorrento for a day to stroll around and see what the town had to offer. Trust me, there is no shortage of beautiful flowers, winding streets, and miles of the the Gulf of Naples to view!
The next day we got up early and hopped on a boat to Positano. If you aren’t familiar with Positano, it’s a perfectly picturesque Italian landscape with cotton candy colored buildings, bright beach umbrellas, and an endless number of boats dotting the water. It’s amazing that this town literally is built into the cliff side! The tiny streets are lined with souvenir shops, restaurants, and boutiques for miles. I did manage to stock up on some fragrances from a well known shop in Positano, Profumi di Positano.
Just when we thought we had the perfect picture, we made our way to the other side of the town and got an entirely different viewpoint, which was equally as stunning! Unfortunately it did start to rain (which apparently rarely happens there!) and we had to hop on the boat back to Sorrento. As we stepped into a shop to escape the rain, we saw THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE from the restaurant across the way. If you’ve watched my Instagram video, you know exactly what I am talking about. There was a waiter holding an umbrella and balancing 4 espressos on a tray all while walking in the rain and singing all the way to the front door of the restaurant! I was at a loss for words! I appreciate great customer service, and that for sure tops my list!! Even though it was raining, I still managed to get a picture of the dark clouds above the mountains contrasting against the many blues of the sea and the vibrantly colored town.
I will leave you with the last picture of Capri that was taken on our way back from Positano. This is just a snippet of the amazing island that is Capri. I will share more photos this week:-) Stay tuned for Jackie O’s old vacation jaunt, Capri.
